Hello, I’m Anne Thomson, and I co-founded Wolverhampton and South Staffs Counselling Services to provide counsellors, trainees and local employers with high quality supervision, training and consultancy that promotes emotional and mental health and wellbeing.
I’m a University of Warwick-trained person-centred counsellor and supervisor, previously a senior tutor on the University’s BA degree and the advanced diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I have been the external examiner for counselling programmes at Queen’s University, Belfast and I am currently the counselling lecturer at Walsall College.
I enjoy being able to share my expertise and experience with different organisations including a bereavement counselling charity, a housing association, a disability care team, a multi-service charity and volunteer counsellors. I am the regional therapist for the Police Firearms Officers Association, work that involves counselling for trauma, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), stress and depression. For nearly a decade, I have also been a supervisor of counsellors and trainee counsellors, work that provides a highlight of my professional week.
I am accredited by the National Counselling Society and am listed on their Professional Standards Authority accredited register.
